The Wines
Friuli Grave Doc - Merlot Originally from the Gironde (Bordeaux), this vine is perfectly suited to Friuli. The wine is a ruby-red colour, turning Burgundy red after a brief period of ageing. The bouquet is full and fragrant, with a subtle scent of roses. Dry, harmonious taste, with a slight grassy flavour. A versatile wine, it can accompany both white meat and red, and semi-mature cheeses.

Friuli Grave Doc - Cabernet Franc This vine originally came from the Bordeaux region, and spread through Friuli from the end of the 19th century. The wine ages quite well, is an intense ruby-red colour, with a marked grassy bouquet, reminiscent of raspberries. It has a full, robust and harmonious taste. It goes particularly well with game, red meat dishes, well-matured, hard cheeses.
Serve at room temperature
Friuli Grave Doc - Refosco An old, Friulian vine, already common in the 18th century. Intense purplish-red colour, winy bouquet, characteristic; dry, full, warm and slightly bitter taste. It can be aged for one or two years. It goes well with game and typical Friulian dishes (pork sausage with beans, goulasch, etc.).
Serve at room temperature.
Friuli Grave Doc - Tocai The most typical of Friuli's white wines, for many years it was the "white wine" by definition. A fine, delicate wine, with an intense bouquet reminiscent of wild flowers, a dry, soft and very rounded taste.
It is an excellent aperitif, or with hors d'oeuvres, fish and white meat.
Serve at 12°C.
Friuli Grave Doc - Pinot Bianco Clearly of French origin, the vine is widely grown in Friuli too. A medium-bodied wine, it has a delicate and elegant bouquet, when young, reminiscent of wild flowers and fruit. As it ages, the bouquet becomes more intense and prompt. Drunk as an aperitif but also with hors d'oeuvres and fish, broth, poultry, eggs and mild cheeses.
Serve at 10-12°C.
Friuli Grave Doc - Pinot Grigio The vine is a variant of the Pinot Noir, and has found very favourable environmental conditions in Friuli. Distinct, strong bouquet, reminiscent of the acacia flower. Dry, full, pleasant and slightly bitter taste. Particularly suitable for hors d'oeuvres, especially ham, light soups, risotto, fish and white meat.
Serve at 10-12°C.
Colli Orientali del Friuli Doc - Verduzzo A native vine, characteristic, which has always been grown in Friuli. The wine is golden yellow in colour, with a fruity bouquet, a taste of honey, tannic, strong-bodied: all perfectly amalgamated.
A great dessert wine, served at 8-10°C.
Friuli Grave Doc - Sauvignon The vine originally came from the Gironde, near Sauternes, and has long been grown all over Friuli. Greeny-yellow in colour, the wine has a delicate bouquet, slightly aromatic. It has a dry, strong but smooth taste, with a slightly bitter after-taste. Recommended as an aperitif and with fish, ham, omelettes. Serve at 10-12°C.
Friuli Grave Doc - Chardonnay This vine comes from the Champagne and Bourgogne regions, but has adapted perfectly well throughout Friuli. Pale yellow in colour, the wine has a delicate bouquet, the typical taste of this variety of wine, full-bodied, suitably acidic. For aperitifs, hors d'oeuvres, shell fish and fish in general. Serve at 8-10°C.
Schioppettino The vine is of the Ribolla family (Ribolla Nera) and comes from the area between Eastern Friuli and Slovenia.
The wine is red with purplish undertones, a bouquet reminiscent of raspberries and blueberries, full-bodied, fresh, a little sweet.
It goes well with dry cakes, bitter chocolate, dry fruit
